Mission Statement

The Regional Aquaculture Centers support aquaculture research, development, demonstration, and Extension education to enhance viable and profitable U.S. aquaculture for the benefit of producers, consumers, service industries, and the U.S. economy.

Within the North Central region, NCRAC brings together industry, research, Extension, and other regional partners to identify industry-driven priorities and support research, development, demonstration, and education that strengthen aquaculture across the region.

Narrative History

The North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC) brings together aquaculture producers, researchers, Extension professionals, and other partners to strengthen aquaculture across the North Central United States. Established in 1988, NCRAC is one of five Regional Aquaculture Centers supported by USDA-NIFA and serves 12 states across the region (for more history see the SOP).

Through stakeholder-driven research, demonstration, and Extension, NCRAC identifies regional priorities, builds collaborative teams, and helps turn research and expertise into practical information and solutions for the aquaculture community. Our goal is to support a viable, profitable, and sustainable aquaculture industry that benefits producers, consumers, and communities throughout the region (for more history see the SOP).
