Crayfish Funded Project

Description

The Crayfish Funded Project was chaired by Paul B. Brown. The objectives of this funded project include:

Economic Conditions and Future Market Opportunities for Aquaculture in the Northcentral U.S.

Description

This is the first funded project in Economics and Marketing.  It is chaired by Don Floyd.

Objectives

1. Identify existing and needed economic data; develop statistical reporting methods; design an information management system and prototype annual situation/outlook report on the North Central Region aquaculture industry; begin collecting and compiling a regional database; and prepare the initial situation/outlook report. Aquaculture Economics, Marketing and Policy for the North Central Region

(funded project #2)

Description

The second Economics and Marketing Funded Project was chaired by Leroy Hushak.  The project included the following objectives:

1. Update data in information management system and produce a second Situation and Outlook Report on the North Central Regional Aquaculture industry (a third annual report is dependent on additional budge for fiscal year 1992-93, year 2 of the biennium). Market Study of Sunfish and Walleye Hybrids

Description

The fourth Economics and Marketing funded project was chaired by Pat O'Rourke.

Objective

Evaluate the potential "supply" and "market" for hybrid walleye (female walleye x male sauger) and sunfish (female green sunfish x male bluegill) fillets relative to comparable fish.

Sub-Objectives

Survey for a Regional Aquaculture Co-op and Marketing Project

Description

Co-op and Marketing Project

Objectives:

1. Investigate the pros/cons of alternative forms and scopes of a marketing organization, ie., species; market information, marketing, or market development.

2. Survey aquaculture growers and existing co-ops in the North Central Region to assess interest and willingness to commit and invest in a grower-owned marketing organization.

NCRAC and MarketMaker Collaboration

Description

Objectives:

1. Conduct a survey of all North Central Region (NCR) aquaculture producers for data that will be assimilated into the MarketMaker system.

2. Undertake outreach activities to educate and register NCR producers into MarketMaker system.

Objectives:


  1. Strengthen linkages between North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC) Research and Extension Work Groups.
  2. Enhance the NCRAC extension network for aquaculture information transfer.
  3. Provide in-service training for Cooperative Extension Service, Sea Grant Advisory Service,  and other landowner assistance personnel.

Funded Project #12 - NCRAC Extension Project- Addendum

Description

The twelfth project - Chaired by Joseph Morris

Objectives:

1. To develop an online Fish Health Certificate Program for producers, providing them with relevant risk assessment and management principles and practices to reduce losses due to fish diseases and set up mechanisms to collect data on the impact of the training on the individual fish operations and the industry in general.

2. Development and presentation on workshops focused on AIS-HACCP training.
